Who we are and How we became Children's Outreach Ministries

Dennis & Liz were married in May of 1975.  We committed our lives  to Jesus Christ - Dennis in 1973, followed by Liz in 1982.  We began attending a local Bible believing church where we grew in our walk with the Lord. Andy was born in December, 1983, followed by Kyle in January 1986. Zachary David came along in February, 1988. By 1989, the Lord had impressed on us the desire to serve Him full time. Dennis quit his job at GTE after 17 years; we sold our house and packed up our three sons and moved to Schroon Lake NY where Dennis attended Word of Life Bible Institute. After graduating in the fall of 1990, we moved to Warrenton Missouri to attend the Child Evangelism Fellowship Training Institute where we received extensive training to work with children. While there, number four son, Luke was born!

 

When we returned to Toledo in the Spring of 1991, we were given the opportunity to take over as director of Child Evangelism Fellowship of Greater Toledo. We did, however, have to raise our entire support, and began contacting churches and individuals. We must tell you that the Lord has been faithful to meet our every need these past 18 years (not always our wants, but always our needs). And, to complete our family, in 1993 He blessed us with twin girls, Sarah and Hannah! What joy they brought to our home, especially little Sarah who has Down’s Syndrome. She is such an added blessing to our family—so full of love and the joy of the Lord!

 

The Lord continued to bless our work adding new teachers and new clubs, and in 1995, our local Board unanimously voted to become an independent local ministry—reaching the unchurched children in the greater Toledo and surrounding area for Christ. We became Children's Outreach Ministries. Our purpose is four fold:

  • Reach the unchurched children in the greater Toledo and surrounding area for Jesus Christ

  • Disciple them in the Word of God

  • Establish them in a local Bible believing, Bible teaching church

  • Assist the local church in their efforts to win the children for Christ.
